Stolen therapy goat recovered after being 'dumped’ on Amish farm: owner - PennLive

A therapy goat apparently stolen from a York County farm and animal sanctuary earlier this week has been recovered after he was found “dumped” at a nearby Amish farm, his owner said.

That’s according to Beck Bolton, the owner of Phoenyx Farm and Sanctuary, who posted about the recovery on Facebook, thanking all of those who shared information about the goat’s disappearance, which aided in his recovery.

“My once shaken faith in humanity has been restored from the outpouring of love and support from people that never even met Toby,” she wrote.

Toby, the 4-year-old black goat, was missing from his pen Sunday morning, and Bolton quickly took to social media to share photos of the therapy animal. She said it appeared Toby had been abducted from the pen Saturday night.

Some of those photos showed a child feeding Toby, and Bolton explained that the goat is used as a therapy animal to help “disabled and underprivileged kids.”

In her posts, Bolton also made it clear that she believed Toby was stolen. She even threatened the suspected, unknown abductor.

“If I find out you hurt him or killed him I will make it my life’s mission to hunt you down and return the favor,” she wrote, urging his return to the farm near Delta, York County.

A reward for his return grew from $500 to $2,000 in the coming days.

Toby’s story was shared widely on social media and was featured in local newspapers and on TV news.

And on New Year’s Day, Bolton again took to social media, this time to announce the good news that Toby had been recovered.

Someone had “dumped” him at a nearby Amish farm, and a friend of that farm’s owner contacted Phoenyx officials jut before midnight on New Year’s Eve, the post read.

“His son had been watching the news earlier in the evening and saw my desperate plea for Toby’s safe return to us,” Bolton wrote. “We would like to sincerely thank everyone who cared, shared and helped.”

Toby was placed under 24-hour supervision, and he was “thin and sick from his ordeal but safe,” Bolton said.

Later, she posted a photo of Toby laying in the sun next to his sister — a white goat called Emmy.

“I’m still in disbelief that we were able to get him home safe,” she said.
